ILLINOIS RESIDENTS ONLY: the only vehicles that are eligible to be operated with special event plates are: passenger cars (including those with AV plates, B-trucks, and recreational vehicles weighing 8,000 pounds or less). The vehicles must be currently registered in Illinois and the owner must keep the regular license plates and registration ID in the vehicle at all times. Plates cannot be transferred to other vehicles.
OUTSIDE ILLINOIS OR FOR SOUVENIRS ONLY: plates are also available as a souvenir only (not legal for road use). The State of Illinois requires that non-Illinois residents who purchase Special Event License Plates must still provide a copy of the current registration, vehicle information and drivers license information.

Special event plates are mailed directly from the manufacturer to your registered address.
Plates will arrive approximately 60 days prior to the event;
those registered to a vehicle expire at midnight on 8/22/2010.
